Home » Uncategorised @en » And the Zalando 2018 Change Management Award goes to AdHoc Translations…
At the annual Zalando Supplier Day held in Berlin on 15 May 2018, AdHoc Translations was among the top three applicants chosen to present their change management project in a 5-minute elevator pitch. At the end of the day the winner was elected by an external jury, and Tobias Wiesner, Managing Director AdHoc Translations DACH, was very proud to receive the 2018 Procurement Supplier Award.

“Being Zalando’s localisation and translation partner has been an amazing journey. Since we started our cooperation in 2016, Zalando has always emphasised open and honest communication with us as a supplier. The Supplier Day was a great opportunity to meet business partners from various departments in a shared venue to engage in discussions around ongoing and upcoming projects. We had a lot of fun pitching our change management initiatives and sharing our ideas around the concept of being a “digitalised solutions provider”. The fact that we won the 2018 Procurement Supplier Award was the icing on the cake. Thank you very much Zalando for being a great host!”

What is the Zalando Supplier Day?

The Zalando Supplier Day serves as a platform for exchanging professional insights as well as discussing new projects and developments in an informal networking atmosphere. It is a place for inspiring discussions on digital strategy, gripping presentations regarding supply chain management and innovative change management projects, with an award going to the team behind the best pitch.

What is the Zalando Change Management Award?

In the world we live in today, remaining a competitive player in an economy defined by digitalisation and rapid developments require innovative strategies. For many organisations, this means changing up long-standing strategies and approaches for the first time in many years. For some, this may entail disrupting hierarchical structures, while for others it may involve a greater focus on project work. Given that change seems key to success, Zalando seeks to honour exemplary achievements in executing change management projects with the Zalando Supplier Award in the hopes that the example set by the winners may serve as inspiration for other organisations.

Why was AdHoc Translations chosen as the 2018 award recipient?

When the jury announced the winner of this year’s award, they justified their decision with the following:

“AdHoc Translations has been chosen to receive the Change Management Award 2018 since they have proven what it takes to execute change management. They have managed to change existing and traditional working methods and instead use technology and automated processes to shift the focus onto their clients…”

In the elevator pitch, Tobias Wiesner from AdHoc Translations explained what the journey from a traditional translation agency to a modern language solutions provider has been like. It has required a new corporate culture, revamping of the organisation, investment in latest tools and technology and an international expansion.

The landscape of the translation industry and the needs of customers have changed. In the past, processes were handled manually with no technology integration and by using offline translation tools. Today, however, if you want to keep up with the competition and meet your customers’ demands, you need to automate your workflows and processes, offer integrations with your customers’ software environment and support the full content life cycle from text creation, translation/localisation, multilingual SEO and multimedia to DTP and much more.

Tobias Wiesner also explained how AdHoc Translations transitioned from offline to real-time, introducing cloud-based productivity tools including everything from email communication to a collaboration platform to bring all stakeholders together as well as shifting from standard office hours to 24/7 operations, thereby enabling global support with local service.

“It’s all about customer satisfaction”, Tobias Wiesner highlighted during his elevator pitch!
