Kosan Crisplant (MAKEEN Energy) supplies tailored solutions for the LP gas industry. The company provides equipment, installations, and systems for filling and maintaining LP cylinders, along with after-sales services, facility management, and components for the global gas sector.

Since 1951, Kosan Crisplant has delivered more than 2,600 factories across 129 countries, making it one of the most established suppliers in its field.

The brief

As the company grew, so did the volume of technical documentation, manuals, safety materials, and tender content requiring translation. These tasks were being handled manually through email, which made the process slow, difficult to track, and highly dependent on individual staff members.

The challenges included:

  • scattered communication across email chains
  • no shared overview of ongoing or completed translations
  • limited ability to plan or forecast workloads
  • no central record of savings from translation memory use
  • inefficiency caused by repeated back-and-forth communication

Børge Møller, responsible for technical documentation, sought a more agile, transparent, and scalable workflow.

Our approach

We designed a solution built around SmartDesk, our customer portal for managing translation projects.

Project setup

Following detailed discussions with Kosan Crisplant, we configured a SmartDesk setup that reflected the company’s specific requirements. The aim was to support a high volume of technical content while reducing administrative workload.

The setup included: 

  • a shared translation memory to ensure consistency and reduce costs
  • a clear workflow covering all stages from submission to delivery
  • access to all past, current, and pending projects in one place
  • automated handling of quotes, invoicing, and file delivery
  • reporting tools for management to track spend and savings

This centralisation removed the need for email-driven workflows and gave the team full visibility of translation activity.

Through SmartDesk, Børge and his colleagues now:

  • upload files directly
  • follow project status in real time
  • access completed translations instantly
  • generate usage and cost-saving reports for management
  • maintain a structured archive of all translation tasks

For AdHoc Translations, SmartDesk also ensures that the correct translators, reviewers, and terminologists handle each job. This streamlines daily coordination and keeps terminology consistent across technical documents.
